This Wednesday of Holy Week, the Sanctuary of Health and Peace, Church of Blessed Father Eustace, will hold the procession of the Encounter of Our Lord of the Steps and Our Lady of Sorrows.

The images will leave at 7 PM. The procession of Our Lord of the Steps will depart from the Santos Dumont Complex. The procession with the image of Our Lady of Sorrows will depart from the Dona Paula Home. The meeting point will be at the Sanctuary of Health and Peace Square, where the Sermon of the Encounter will take place.

At the same time, at 7 pm, there will be a Holy Mass celebration at the Sanctuary, followed by, around 8 pm, everyone is invited to go outside the church, to the square, to witness the arrival of the images and the sermon that will be delivered by Brother Vanildo Lima Sena, ss.cc.

The procession of the encounter

The procession of the encounter is a liturgical celebration of great piety, marking the meeting of the Virgin Mary with her Divine Son, carrying the Cross on the way to Calvary, through the streets of Jerusalem, after being scourged, crowned with thorns, and condemned to death by Pilate.

It is a moment in which we meditate on the sorrowful encounter of the Virgin Mary with Jesus. It is a moment of profound reflection on the sorrows of the Mother of Jesus, from His birth to His death on the Cross. Jesus suffered the Passion; the Virgin suffered compassion for us.
