The statue of Blessed Father Eustace, located in the gardens of the Memorial at the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Health and Peace, underwent a special cleaning and restoration process.
The work is being carried out with zeal and dedication to preserve this landmark of faith and is being closely monitored by the vice-postulator of the Cause of Canonization, Father Vinícius Maciel, SS.CC. For him, this restoration is extremely important to keep the devotion to the Blessed alive: "The care for the memory and heritage of the Blessed is directly linked to the responsibility of the Cause of Canonization.".
The sculptor and creator of the work, Edu Santos, was responsible for the restoration himself. He and an assistant were in Belo Horizonte and dedicated two days to the restoration. In addition to removing impurities and signs of deterioration with polishing, the artist also used a special wax to restore the material's shine.
The artwork was unveiled in 2009 by sculptor Edu Santos, from Campinas-SP, as a gift from the Blessed One's nephew, Ian van den Boomen, to the Brazilian faithful.
