Acclaimed by the population for various graces attributed to him, Father Eustáquio caught the attention of the church, which opened a canonization process for the Dutch priest in 1956. However, the process, which had Father Alfredo Elfrink, ss.cc, as its first Vice-Postulator, continues to this day with Father Vinícius Maciel, ss.cc.

The vice-postulators work directly with the Canonization process and are responsible for gathering all the material involving extraordinary events attributed to the intercession of Father Eustáquio. It was through their work that the priest is now recognized as Blessed by the Catholic Church.
